Laminate Countertops

Laminates are a highly affordable solution for bringing a new look to your kitchen. They cost far less than most other materials, yet offer a tremendous range of colors, styles and patterns.

Laminates are low maintenance as well. It's easy to clean and resists impact. It's even easier than most countertop materials to install.

Laminates are bonded to a wood composite to form your countertop. This means edges can present a challenge, but there are ways to get around that with the right edge treatments.

However, when it does chip, it is not easy to fix. You don't want to put hot items on it or allow water to get into seams, as this can cause the layers to separate. It also scratches relatively easily, so you must use cutting boards.

Your sink generally cannot be installed under a laminate countertop, as this would expose the wood composite, so you will want to choose an overlay sink. However, it is possible to find laminate countertops with solutions to cope with sinks installed beneath the countertop.
